GRANITE & QUARTZITE
Quartzite and granite are often compared in terms of their hardness and durability but they are not the same type of natural stone. Quartzite has become popular for Decoration and countertops in today’s neutral-toned kitchen designs due to its variety of gifted design , which is highly sought after for natural stone countertops.Granite is known for its hardness as an igneous rock, while quartzite is a metamorphic rock primarily composed of quartz, the hardest material on Earth. Quartzite forms when quartz-rich sandstone undergoes heat, pressure, and chemical activity during metamorphism. These conditions cause the sand grains and silica cement to recrystallize, resulting in even greater hardness. On the Mohs scale of hardness, quartzite has a slight advantage, measuring around 7 compared to granite’s 6 to 6.5.Despite being slightly harder, quartzite is not completely resistant to damage. Unlike granite, it has one notable flaw: etching, which can occur when certain substances come into contact with the surface.
